Restaurants and Take Out

Eleuthera is home to some of the yummiest culinary experiences in the Bahamas and luckily no tie or shoes required.

From homemade local dishes to fine French cuisine, you’d be missing out on a large part of the Eleuthera experience if you didn’t take some time to visit one or two of these highly recommended suggestions:

Culinary Excellence

We love Pascal’s food so much that we offer our guests the option of having him cook at our home or having a chauffeured night out at his restaurant.

Pascale’s cooking rivals any 5-star resort!. Situated on a gorgeous stretch of pink sand beach, enjoy local cocktails from Sammy (watch out, they are strong…why we offer the chauffer) while waiting on a meal that will make you say YUM more than once. Whether you’re going for lunch, dinner or the Sunday Party BBQ, you will be smiling with a full belly of delicious when you leave.

Some of the Island’s Best Food

Home of the famous (in our family anyway) Lobster Shrimp Pizza. This is our family’s favorite restaurant on the island and is located in Governors Harbour.

The food is EXCELLENT with items from pizza to items I would challenge to be served in the finest restaurants. There is no set menu, although we have never been there when they are not serving the Lobster Shrimp Pizza. Bon Appetit magazine, September 2009 agrees with my daughter’s love of the lobster pizza. “Bahamas…..forget the high-rises on New Providence go to the less-populated out Islands …. A range that includes the still-sleepy Eleuthera … are suddenly in. Tippy’s you will find some of the Island’s best food…….but the lobster pizza is a must, as is the signature Tippy’s Sunshine cocktail…….” The menu ranges from pizza to pasta to fresh fish.

The restaurant is located right on the beach and for lunch is extremely casual. If you eat lunch in the restaurant, we would recommend bringing your beach gear to enjoy the beach. During dinner, the menu changes as does the dress code. They are open for lunch and dinner.

Barbie’s Place

Local Fresh Food

A local favorite in Tarpum Bay, Miss Barbara and her restaurant is a local treasure. We are lucky enough that she cooks all of our welcome meals and provided our guests (and ourselves) with an extensive take-out menu. You can either make the short visit to the restaurant to pick up your order or they will deliver it for a small charge. We personally do her grouper sandwiches and hot dogs at least once during our stay and her cinnamon buns at least twice! And don’t even get me started about her breakfast sandwiches! A must before any early morning fishing.

We’re returning for our second trip to Five Palms and we can’t wait to have Barb’s sticky buns every morning.

Mate & Jenny’s

Great for Kids and Groups

Mate and Jenny’s is a great pizza restaurant and a great place to take the kids and groups. The Pizza dough is hand made very day and provides fresh ingredients which are unsurpassed since the restaurant is owned by the same family which owns the nursery. Mate and Jenny’s offer a conch pizza which is one of our favorites. The conch pizza is in limited supply so we recommend calling ahead a few days prior to secure this delicious offering.

Delicious thin crust pizza and very powerful cocktails, what else could one ask for?

Frigate’s Bar & Grill

Amazing Island Food

Guests rave about both their food and ambiance. Serving lunch and dinner, Frigate’s provides local delicacies ranging from conch fritters to the “Seafood Lovers Delight.” The casual, waterside atmosphere is a wonderful place to enjoy a delicious meal or drink.

Wild Orchids

Great for Kids and Groups

Serving breakfast lunch and dinner, this little restaurant in a restored old home cooks to order every item and guests say it is always cooked to perfection. Providing amazing sunset views, order a burger, fries and one of their large, strong pina colada for a perfect evening.
